Elisabetta Giuffra (female), biologist, obtained her PhD in molecular genetics from the University of Turin (Italy) in 1993. Since then she worked on different topics of farm animal genomics across Italy, France, Sweden and the U.K.

Since December 2010 she works in France at INRAE (GABI Unit, Jouy-en-Josas) where she has continued her research on the genomics of host (pig) response to viruses, manly by trascriptional genomics approaches. Since her appointment as permanent senior scientist (DR2) in February 2015 she primarily works in the context of the "Functional Annotation of Animal Genomes" (FAANG) initiative (www.faang.org), for which she co-coordinates the Steering Committee. Since July 2019 she coordinates the H2020 FAANG project GENE-SwitCH (The regulatory GENomE of SWine and CHicken: functional annotation during development ; www.gene-switch.eu). Recent activities are centered on the use of in vitro systems (organoids) to unravel genotype-to-phenotype relations and for in vitro phenotyping of immune-related traits in porcine populations.
