Genomic selection; genetic Improvement of Cattle; genetic evaluation; association analysis ; milk composition ; disease resistance; genetic defects

Research fields : Fish breeding programs especially Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) but also seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax)

Elisabetta Giuffra

Genomics of host (pig)-virus interactions and functional annotation of the genomes of major farm species.

Fields of research : Methodological development for high-throughput genomic data, mainly transcriptomic (microarray and RNA-seq): differential analysis and gene network inference. Mixed models (linear, non linear and generalized linear models), stochastic EM algorithm, heterogeneous variance modelling, longitudinal data analysis (covariance structure modelling).

My work with the GiBBS team is focused on the analysis of data concerning different fields (x-omics, Biodiversity and Genetic Structure of Populations, Animal Production). I am specialized in Factorial Analysis (principal components analysis, analysis of correspondence, multiple factorial analysis, coinertia, ....).

My research projects are aimed at better understanding the environmental and genetic factors that have an influence on the mother-offspring continuum via milk and to decode the associated molecular mechanisms. To do this, I study, on the one hand, the mammary gland whose establishment plays a key role in milk production, and on the other hand, the composition of milk, the central element of this continuum.
