The Survival Kit

The survival kit: a very complete statistical software for the study of survival analysis

The survival kit makes it possible to analyse very large files, to treat complex models including time-depending variables, and to predict random effects and estimate variance components

Survival analysis methods were first developed in the biomedical field, which generally involves smaller file sizes and lower levels of effects than agronomic applications. The relative theory of random effects in survival analysis ("fragile" models) is not as advanced as with linear models and no freeware is available to use such models. The survival kit analyses large populations with complex models. In France and in many other countries, the survival kit is used in quantitative animal genetics for the genetic evaluation of longevity in breeding animals. It has also been responsible for many national and international partnerships involving its author and others.
