Highlights in 2023

Seven highlights for the GABI unit in 2023: four concern the organization of scientific events and three are from scientific articles.

Organization of the workshop : "Inovative cellular models for animal Science"

Contact : Elisabetta Giuffra, MichèleTixier-Boichard
Abstract : Speakers' interventions focused on the development of organoids and their applications for livestock, such as nutrition, host-pathogen relationships, embryonic and reproductive biotechnologies. More methodological aspects were also presented, such as genetic modification by genome editing, imaging and technologies around "organ-on-chip" and microfluidic approaches. Finally, we had two seminars on ethical issues related to the development and use of these new 'tools'. This research school is a deliverable of WP4 of the European EuroFAANG  project. https://eurofaang.workshop.inrae.fr/

3rd International Symposium "Microgenomics 2023"

Contact : Claudia Bevilacqua
Abstract : On the initiative of scientists from the @BRIDGe platform (UMR GABI) and in collaboration with the prestigious University of Florence, the 3rd edition of the International Symposium "Microgenomics" was held in Florence on June 29 and 30, 2023, preceded by 4 workshops organized over one day, on June 28. We brought together internationally renowned experts in nano- and microgenomics to present advances in molecular analysis techniques of various biological samples for plant, animal and human research. These advances include high-throughput "omics" technologies, enrichment methods, space biology and bioinformatics tools. The particularity of the methodological advances presented is their high level of resolution at the cellular level. Microgenomics 2023 (inrae.fr)

Rustic Breeds Seminar

Contact : Eléonore Charvolin-Lemaire
Abstract : Seminar organized by INRAE (GABI, GenPhyse, ASSET and SELMET units) in partnership with AgroParisTech, ENV Toulouse and IFREMER, as well as with several breeding organizations (FGE, Idele, IFCE, SYSAAF, IFIP, Races de France). The objective was to encourage the proliferation of ideas in order to propose simple indicators of a very complex notion, rusticity. This multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder seminar was held on March 20 and 21, 2023 in Paris. https://races-rustiques.seminaire.inrae.fr/

Workshop on factor analyses in integrative biology

Contact : Florence Jaffrezic, Andrea Rau

Abstract : A workshop was organized on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the INRAE site in Jouy-en-Josas on the theme of "Factor Analysis". The organisation was carried out within the framework of the StatOmics group, the Animal Genetics and Integrative Biology Unit of INRAE and on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Department of Animal Genetics. It brought together a hundred participants from various backgrounds and different Institutes, with a remote rebroadcast by zoom allowing the connection of people outside the Ile-de-France.
